Traditional day of offerings
On this day, on the 1st day of the 12th month of the lunar calendar is observed as the traditional day of offerings in memory and gratitude to Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal who united Bhutan under one government in the 1600s.
This day is also celebrated as a new year by the people of eastern Bhutan.
An auspicious day of offering and giving.
